NCTV17 Presented with Rosemary Martin Led by Spencer, NCTV17 was chosen for its balanced and broad election coverage which has been developed and expanded in recent years. The programs included pre-election interviews, rebroadcasts of community candidate forums, and live election night coverage. The most recent election broadcast was achieved through a production crew of over 60 and included the new Skype technology (also used by Oprah); the live production included interviews with candidates from their election-night headquarters, results and commentary. “We think it is vitally important for the residents of our community to be knowledgeable voters,” said Spencer. “We are truly honored to be recognized in this way for our efforts.” Spencer accepted the award from Karin Snodgrass, Chair of the Rosemary Martin Democracy in Action Award Committee and Jane Barnes, President of the Naperville League of Women Voters. The award was presented after the League’s annual meeting at City Club before an audience of League members, elected officials, past winners, and NCTV17 staff & board.
